Esports has moved from bedrooms and internet cafes into gymnasiums, libraries and lecture halls. Schools want to offer competitive gaming, but most of them run into the same wall: they do not have a spare room, a dedicated IT budget, or the time to assemble dozens of parts into a reliable station. That gap is why we created the Esports Pod.
Short answer: an esports pod is a compact, single-seat station that combines a gaming PC, a large curved monitor, an ergonomic chair, audio, a camera and simulation controls in one rolling unit. It is designed to arrive ready to use, plug into a standard wall outlet, and move wherever a school needs it.
What is inside an Esports Pod?
The Esports Pod is a lime-green, single-seat enclosure built around proven, commercially available gear. A typical configuration includes:
- An Alienware gaming PC and an Alienware 38-inch curved monitor
- A Razer Enki chair designed for long sessions
- A Razer Kraken V3 HyperSense headset for team communication
- A Razer Kiyo camera for streaming and recording
- Thrustmaster racing wheels and pedals, plus flight gear such as HOTAS sticks and TCA yokes
- Optional HTC Vive Pro Eye virtual reality
- Built-in Wi-Fi and a projector slot for sharing the screen with a classroom
Everything runs on standard 110V power. The pod rolls on wheels and is sized to fit through standard doors and into elevators, so it does not require a renovation to install.
Why do schools need a purpose-built gaming station?
Most school esports programs start with whatever computers are available. Lab machines are often locked down, underpowered for modern titles, and shared with other classes. Building custom stations from parts takes expertise and leaves the school responsible for compatibility problems. A purpose-built pod solves several issues at once:
- Consistency: every seat has the same hardware, which matters for fair competition and practice.
- Space: a single pod occupies a small footprint and can share a room with other activities.
- Mobility: the pod can move between a library, a classroom and an event space.
- Versatility: the same seat supports competitive games, racing simulation, flight simulation and content creation.
Who is the Esports Pod designed for?
We designed the pod for high schools, colleges, universities, Native American land schools, and military and education institutions. These organizations share a common goal: engage students with technology they already care about, and connect that interest to real skills. Competitive gaming builds teamwork and communication. Simulation builds familiarity with vehicles and aircraft. Streaming builds media production skills. A single pod can support all three.
How does an esports pod support learning beyond games?
Gaming is the hook, but education is the point. Teachers can use the projector slot to put the pod screen on a classroom wall, turning one student's session into a group lesson. Racing and flight controls open the door to physics, engineering and career discussions. The camera and headset let students practice broadcasting, commentary and video production. These are the same skills used in media, technology and aviation careers.
What comes next?
This blog will track what we learn as esports and simulation grow inside schools. We will cover program planning, funding, sponsorship, hardware, safety and career pathways. If you want to see the hardware in detail, visit our products page. If you are ready to see a pod in person, you can book a demo.
Why did we choose lime green?
A pod should be easy to spot in a busy library or event hall. The bright lime-green finish signals that this is a dedicated space for gaming and simulation, helps students find it, and gives sponsors and schools a distinctive backdrop for photos and streams.
Frequently asked questions
Does an Esports Pod need special electrical work?
No. The pod is designed to run on standard 110V power from a typical wall outlet, which keeps installation simple for most schools.
Can the pod be moved between rooms?
Yes. It rolls on wheels and is sized to fit through standard doors and into elevators, so it can move between classrooms, libraries and event spaces.
Is the Esports Pod only for playing video games?
No. In addition to competitive gaming, it supports racing and flight simulation, optional VR, streaming and classroom instruction through its projector slot.
